Job Post: Underground Diesel Mechanic Foreman
Situated in the Piet Retief/Panbult area, ± 65 km from Piet Retief, Kangra Coal (Pty) Ltd. is a modern, mechanised mine.
The ideal applicant will meet the following requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Grade 12
National certificate level (N4) with Industrial Instrumentation as main subject with two years’ experience
Instrumentation trade test certificate of competency (Section 13/ Section 26 not Section 28)
S4/T4 National Diploma in Light Current with two years’ experience.
Trade Test in instrumentation is an added advantage.
Basic computer skills
Code EB/B driver's license
English proficiency
Medical certificate of fitness
Experience:
Minimum four years’ experience as an Instrumentation Technician or higher level.
Advantageous:
Flame proofing and Gas Testing Certificate
HIRA/ JSA training certificate
Allen Bradley variable speed drives
Danvos variable speed drives
WEG variable speed drives
Skills & abilities:
Good verbal communication ability
Be able to read and write
Must be able to work under high pressure
Must be able to work at heights
Must be able to work underground/fear of the dark, confined space
Knowledge of Plc and Scada development and programming. Allen Bradley CLX5000 and Comact Logix 1100 and 1400 and SCL500 would be an advantage, and Factorytalk View studio 5000.
Interpersonal skills to motivate and involve people on safety and relevant issues.
Maintain a good attendance record.
Knowledge of Allen Bradley variable speed drives.
Knowledge of various fields of instrumentation and installation practices thereof (pressure, level, flow and temperature)
Basic understanding of process flow of coal washing plants.
Problem assessment, prompt and accurate feedback for breakdown reporting.
Planning and organising planned maintenance and stoppage resources (spares & tools).
Duties and Responsibilities will include:
Attend safety meeting with instrumentation foreman and relevant employees daily.
Ensure all tasks are planned and properly executed on time and that job cards are completed correctly within the given time frame.
Assist and guide personnel in the identification and reporting of risks in a workplace prior to conducting any work to prevent injury or loss.
Ensure that all tools (including chemicals and hazardous substances) are tracked, maintained, stored and used in a safe working order as required by the MHSA, relevant national standards and best practices.
Planned maintenance requirements (tools and spares), logistics and execution management.
Perform plant visual inspections on a daily basis and report defects on the relevant reports, any safety-critical or production critical items also need to be reported to the relevant foreman immediately.
Follow standard operating procedures, rules and instructions from foreman.
Complete all shifts reports, log sheets and time sheet at the end of shift as requested/ instructed.
Over inspect the work done in plants – maintenance, planned stoppages, and housekeeping.
Report on all work that was done at the end of the shift to the Instrumentation foreman (shift change book) and during shift change to on -coming shift.
Ensure that the equipment function / design is in such a way that especially walkways, belts, drives, feeders, chutes, and all related equipment are kept clean and free from spillage.
Assist the maintenance planning process in accordance with the set -out guidance (proper pre- preparations and shutdown process).
Communication with instrumentation foreman throughout the shift and the relevant foreman where required.
Any additional work that might be required by the supervisor.
