Job Post: Instrumentation Technician

Situated in the Piet Retief/Panbult area, ± 55 km from Piet Retief, Kangra Coal (Pty) Ltd. is a modern, mechanized mine.

The ideal applicant will meet the following requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 (Standard 10) or Equivalent.

  • Valid  Trade Certificate

  • Computer literacy

  • Driver’s License.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years experience in washing plants, medium & low voltages switchgear, industrial wiring conveyor

  • Pumps systems, Allen Bradley PLC & SCADA knowledge, process automation scales & density controllers.

  • Underground experience.

Skills & abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure.

  • Analytical thinking.

  • Problem-solving skills on network/SCADA systems/camera systems/telephone systems.

  • Fault finding.

  • Good PC literacy skills.

Duties and Responsibilities will include:

  • Installation of instrumentation equipment.

  • Good knowledge of underground environmental systems, Gaduza GST systems.

  • PLC and SCADA programming (PCS& & Allen Bradly) (CLX5000, studio 5000, micro Logix PLC.

  • Good knowledge of communication systems (Telephone & Radio) Healy feeder system & PABXs.

  • Ensuring quality maintenance on control and instrumentation equipment. 

  • Attending to breakdowns.

  • Willing to do standby’s

  • Knowledge of camera systems and configured, install Radio links (Advantage).
