Job Post: 2X Miner

The ideal applicant will meet the following requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 (Standard 10)

  • Blasting Certificate Fiery Mines

  • Gas testing and flameproof certificates

  • Driver’s License code B/EB

  • Competent “A” & “B” Certificate

  • Valid “First Aid” Certificate

  • Computer knowledge will be advantageous

EXPERIENCE:

  •  At least 3 to 5 years general underground mining

  • At least 2 to 3 years as a Miner

  • Experience in stonework conveyor, CM mining methods. stooping, Back bye and Cost control

  • Planning, Organizing, Leading and Controlling 

SKILLS ABILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Safety and coal orientated

  • Good communication, presentation and business writing

  • Good leadership skills

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safety: Ensure legal compliance of health and safety for own section, ensure that the early shift examination is conducted: Water down, Cutting Offline, Bad hanging, Barring. Coordinate safety talks at the safety place (“No safety, no production”), assist with incident /accident investigations, ensure that everybody wear PPE, ensure everybody is licensed in the section, ensure that first aid is conducted.

  • Operations: Collect keys, GDI (Gas detecting instrument), lessor and radio, conduct waiting place meeting, reviews, plan for day and deploy team, physically ensure that the work is conducted according to SOP’s, overseer cutting rate, Overseer the Shuttle car loading operations, order according to procurement control, receives shift’s Survey plans, coordinate marking for cutting, coordinate the cutting: A-Support, B-Deface, Marks off. Communicate with control room, shaft clear the section of workers.

  • People Management: Ensure that the section is staffed, discipline is managed and there is motivated team to meet target.

  • End Shift: Order material, signs off shift clearance documentation, hands in GDI and key kit and provide Shift supervisor with a verbal/written report.
