Kangra intensifies focus on safety
Kangra is poised to elevate its safety efforts after receiving an award from the Mine Health and Safety Council for achieving 3 million fatality-free shifts by November 2023. Michael Madonsela, the mine's safety manager, attributes the milestone to collective effort of every team member in realizing the goal of Zero Harm. “It is truly a team effort, “Madonsela says, highlighting the daily risk assessments and unwavering leadership that have become important to Kangra's culture.
The mine also hosts the GM's Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Day each month. This initiative encourages open dialogue through focus group discussions covering various topics like TMM, environmental sustainability, and occupational hygiene. 'We aim to address as many pertinent issues as possible,” Michael concludes.
