Job Post: Environmental Officer (Compliance and Licensing)
Situated in the Piet Retief/Panbult area, ± 55 km from Piet Retief, Kangra Coal (Pty) Ltd. is a modern, mechanised mine.
The ideal applicant will meet the following requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Degree in Environmental Management or related fields
Short course in Environmental Law
Short course in Environmental Impact Assessments
Experience:
5 years + (experience in both mining and consulting)
Skills and abilities:
Working knowledge and understanding of all environmental related legislation
Must be able to organize and lead
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication abilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Must be proactive and willing to learn
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage enviro-legal processes required for new and existing projects
Ensure compliance with all enviro-legal licenses for the operations
Develop / implement long-term environmental plans for the mine
Development and implement the Environmental Management Programme to address and mitigate environmental responsibility through to mine closure
Compilation and review of Policies and Procedures
Ensuring environmental targets and objectives are maintained
Environmental compliance advice, monitoring & auditing
Regulatory authority liaison
Contractor management
Managing, implementing or guiding public & community participation & facilitation processes
Mentoring and coaching of interns and graduates in training
