Job Post: Technical Writer / Mango Administrator
Situated in the Piet Retief/Panbult area, ± 55 km from Piet Retief, Kangra Coal (Pty) Ltd. is a modern, mechanised mine. This colliery has the following vacancy:
The ideal applicant will meet the following requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Grade 12
Diploma in Business Administration or safety management
Degree in Business Administration will be advantageous
Valid driver’s license
Experience:
Minimum of three years of relevant experience in document writing & document control
Mining/ Engineering in coal mining environment
Strong health and safety records
Skills and abilities:
Proven experience in technical writing for documents
Ability to deliver high-quality documentation with attention to detail
Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable through text and images
Excellent written communication skills in English
Advanced computer skills
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Mine Health & Safety Act
Knowledge of drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Code of Practice as relevant guidelines
Knowledge to conduct risk assessments and apply risk management principles
Sound knowledge of DMRE (Department of Mineral Resources and Energy) requirements
Strong communication skills
Effective presentation skills
Ability to add value to the business
Ability to set and achieve goals
Knowledge of underground mining, opencast mining, and engineering operations
Regularly review and improve the quality of documentation based on user feedback and technological updates
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with internal teams to gain an in-depth understanding of the document and its documentation requirements.
Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for the intended audience.
Write clear and easy-to-understand user interface text and developer guides.
Create tutorials to assist end users in utilizing various applications.
Analyse existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities.
Create and maintain information architecture.
Ensure that all employees adhere to health and safety procedures and policies through training, coaching and advising
Assist management in identifying documentation gaps and provide constructive advice to close those gaps.
Be willing to work extra hours if needed.
