Job Post: Senior Foreman / GES

Situated in the Piet Retief/Panbult area, ± 65 km from Piet Retief, Kangra Coal (Pty) Ltd. is a modern, mechanized mine. This Colliery has the following vacancy:

The ideal applicant will meet the following requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 12

  • Minimum N3

  • Electrical or Mechanical trade certificate,

  • Flameproof certificate

  • Gas testing certificate

  • Certificate in management will be an advantage, and

  • Valid driver’s license        

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience on underground Inbye machines

  •  Minimum of 5 years management or supervisory experience

Skills and abilities:

  • Ability to develop, review and update procedures,

  • Proven supervisory skills,

  • Ability to work under pressure and solve problems,

  • Ability to meet production targets.

  • Be conversant with the following management systems:

  • Electronic time and attendance management system,

  • Maintenance management system,

  • Safety and environment management system

  • Enterprise resource planning management system

Duties and Responsibility:

  • Commissioning, maintenance, overhaul and disposal of machines.

  • Management of projects and contractors in area of responsibility.

  • Ensure that designs and finished work are within specifications, regulations and contract provisions.

  • Ensure that there is compliance to HSE commitments and standards,

  • Ensure compliance with Kangra Coal Code of Conduct and business strategic values

  • Review, develop and maintain the required policies and procedures,

  • Management of people:

  • Ensure treatment of people that promotes sustainable productivity.

  • Ensure that the frontline takes ownership.

  • Set expectation, measure performance, conduct field verifications and follow up.
