Job Post: Strata Control Observer

The ideal applicant will meet the following requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strata Control Theory

  • Strata Control Certificate will be advantageous

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Degree in Mining Engineering or Geology will be advantageous 

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of experience in rock engineering within the coal mining industry

  • Practical mining production experience will be advantageous

Skills and abilities:

  • MS Office

  • English proficiency

  • Experience in quality control and auditing of rock engineering systems and services;

  • Experience in ICAM methodology

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective rock engineering service delivery and support to the mining operations, mine planning, survey and geology sections

  • Ensure and enforce compliance adherence to organisational best practice and legislative requirements

  • Comply with and ensure adherence to safety regulations and standards

  • Ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all underground workers

  • Maintain effective stakeholder relationships

  • Ensure successful teamwork and supervision

  • Conduct weekly inspections of strata controls and conditions

  • Compliance with the emergency preparedness and response requirements

  • Conduct quality inspections to ensure compliance with the company’s rock engineering specifications

  • Conduct quality control and assurance on support consumables

  • Ensure change management process is implemented and communicated

  • Analysis of trends (I.e. Deviations)

  • Familiarise yourself with operational concerns and any inherent peculiarities (e.g. HSEC & ISO issues)

  • Participate in the investigation of accidents and incidents
