Job Post: Underground Diesel Mechanic

Situated in the Piet Retief/Panbult area, ± 55 km from Piet Retief, Kangra Coal (Pty) Ltd. is a modern, mechanized mine.

The ideal applicant will meet the following requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent

  • Diesel mechanic trade

  • Driver’s license code EB

  • Flameproof certificate

  • Gas testing will be advantageous

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as an underground diesel mechanic

  • Auto electric knowledge will be an advantageous

Skills & Responsibilities:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Self-motivated, safety & production orientated

  • Ability to work in a team, under pressure and without supervision, willingness to do standby duties and work overtime, supervisory skills

Duties and Responsibilities will include:

  • Maintenance & repair of machinery and equipment: (LHD (ED07 and ED10), face drill, tractors, LDV`s

  • Working according to mine standards and procedures

  • Ensuring all equipment are inspected and repaired to OEM standard

  • Ensuring all safety devices are operational

  • Training and coaching of subordinates
